Instrument
The first articulating and reusable handheld instrument for laparoscopic surgery
The SATA Laparoscopic Instrument
Reusable by design
Engineered for full reusability, reducing hospital costs and environmental impact.
Intuitive handling
An ergonomic, intuitive design that enables natural handling and immediate use in the operating room.
Precise articulation
Strong, rigid tip articulation that enhances access and reach in difficult operating spaces.
Problem
Articulating instruments in robotic and laparoscopic surgery enhance precision and add value to surgical procedures. However, disposables drive up costs and create excessive waste, significantly impacting the environment.
Solution
SATA instruments are the first laparoscopic instruments to combine tip articulation with full reusability. This reduces hospital costs and environmental impact, while enhancing instrument performance for surgeons.
SATA Medical is a spin-off from the Delft University of Technology, developing reusable, articulating laparoscopic and robotic surgical instruments.
Our patented Shaft-Actuated Tip Articulation (SATA) mechanism enables strong, precise tip articulation through a rigid, cable-less shaft design. This modular approach allows the instrument to be fully disassembled, cleaned, sterilized, and reassembled for reuse.
By combining advanced tip articulation with full reusability, SATA Medical delivers high surgical performance while reducing costs and waste in the operating room.
In the near term, we focus on reusable, articulating laparoscopic instruments, with future expansion toward robotic surgical applications.
